Day Two

January Third. We spent most of the day in a classroom doing our 1 credit History component, but we did hike up loads of stairs to get to "upper campus" which is basically right at the foot of the mountain. Also, I found out that the slope we are on is the slope of "Devil's peak," not Table Mountain, though they do call the whole thing table mountain. Anyway, awesome views were to be seen at the top, so here they are:
In "middle campus" on the long walk up.
From the rugby field.
And upper campus is the prettiest part for sure, a lot of it used to be the estate of Cecil Rhodes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cecil_Rhodes who was looking to make an "Oxford in Africa," as well as a "Cape to Cairo railroad line." He was a big believer in English imperialism as well as a powerful and incredibly wealthy man.
Once we got to upper campus we could see out to the cape flats:

We went to lunch together with the professors, got our student ID cards and access to the gym and then walked into town to buy groceries even though we apparently have no access to a fridge, which seems kind of ridiculous to me. We should definitely have access to a fridge...
Anyway, we are going to eat in town tonight and before that I have to do some homework, I can't believe I have homework to do, I'll post more later!

We had a magnificent dinner at a fancy restaurant for what ended up being $16.50 with the conversion! This place is AWESOME! Anyway these are my friends I have made on my trip though one person, Mike, is missing because he wasn't feeling well:
I think we will be going there a lot from now on (:
That's all for today! Goodnight everyone!
